Traditional Baby-walkers 3 reasons why we’ve banned them

Baby-walkers they were very popular in the 90s but in today’s society they’re almost on every banned list. In the Netherlands parenting magazines are writing about the dangers of the baby-walker and in Canada are they officially banned. The question is why is that exactly? Well below are three reasons why.

Injuries

Baby-walkers move very fast and sometimes faster than parents can react. Babies could fall down, pinch fingers and reach for things they normally aren’t able to reach. The numbers of injuries are high in 20 years there were over 200,000 injuries registered.

Delay mental and motor development

Even the traditional baby-walker was safe it doesn’t help to learn your baby to walk properly. There’s evidence that walkers might delay development to walk. Researcher think that de reason why there’s this delay is because the baby can’t see his legs when walking.

Hinder muscle development

Researchers say that baby-walkers make it hard to develop the muscles because time isn’t spent to crawling, sit up, pull up the important activities to help the baby prepare for walking.
